For the high school group, Nate and I set up stations that the kids would travel around to and participate in small tasks at the stations. Station 1 was about the kinds of notions or preconceived ideas that each of us label God with. Station 2 was the confession station. The kids were supposed to write down sins or confessions that they wanted to give to God. They needed to understand the difference between confession and repentance. Station three was a poem and letter to God station. They read a song by Phil Wickham called True Love. Then they were to respond to the poem in a letter to God. Station 4 was a silence and solitude station where the only words the kids were to utter were "Lord, I am willing and ready to listen. Please speak to me." The last station is where we all gathered around a fire and sang. We then held a foot-washing ceremony and also took communion. This time was unbelievably powerful and instrumental in people seeing Jesus.
Powerful things happen when we strive to know God, rather than just knowing about God. When we take time to be with the Lord, He will speak and reveal himself. We have to take the time. The truth is what sets us free. The truth that God is all we need.
